A warm welcome to the web site of our village school

We are a small, rural school in Mayfield – just 5 minutes drive from the centre of Ashbourne. A Church of England school, we nurture our children in a warm, inviting setting.

Our educational standards are very high. Ofsted rates our school as good and we have an excellent head teacher – Mrs Jackie Naylor – who seeks continual improvement year-on-year.

Being a village school gives our children many benefits. We have small class sizes with a very high teacher-to-pupil ratio. We have a large playground and playing field on which the children enjoy their break times and sports lessons. A family atmosphere means every child feels important.

What Ofsted says about The Henry Prince School

Pupils talked enthusiastically about residential trips, playing a musical instrument, taking part in sports activities and learning French.

The needs of pupils across the school are well catered for in a warm and nurturing environment. This is particularly true for those with special educational needs and/or disabilities, including social, emotional and mental health needs.

Pupils are happy and keen to learn.
