The Henry Prince C.E. (C) First School and Nursery

A warm welcome to the web site of our village school

We are a small, rural school in Mayfield – just 7 minutes drive from the centre of Ashbourne. A Church of England school, we nurture our children in a warm, inviting setting.

Our educational standards are very high. Ofsted rates our school as good and we have an excellent head teacher – Mrs Jackie Naylor – who seeks continual improvement year-on-year.

Being a village school gives our children many benefits. We have small class sizes with a very high teacher-to-pupil ratio. We have a large playground and playing field on which the children enjoy their break times and sports lessons. A family atmosphere means every child feels important.
